Steve is the Chief Investor Coach with Mathies Financial Partners for Southern Colorado. He initially started his career in the investment services industry working for a large broker/dealer and life insurance company in Colorado Springs. This provided him the opportunity to see how a company that focused on selling products versus providing financial coaching and planning operated. In an effort to find a company that fit his personal investment philosophy, he connected with Mathies Financial Partners.
He comes to Mathies Financial Partners with a 20-year history of being an independent business owner and manager. He holds his masters degree in counseling from Regent University and spent much of his life helping at-risk youth and their parents be successful in their communities. This passion for helping people translates well into his career with Mathies Financial Partners, where he helps families move towards financial peace of mind.
In his personal time, Steve enjoys dancing West Coast Swing, two-step and other country swing style dances. He also enjoys spending time in the Colorado Rockies hiking, biking and enjoying nature.
Shelly joined the Mathies Financial Partner family in January 2014 and is currently the clients services manager. After graduating from CU-Boulder in ‘91 and getting married to an Air Force Academy grad she used her literature degree first working as a legal secretary, then as a high school teacher in Texas and finally as a business owner. After 21 years of chasing her husband around the Air Force and raising 3 beautiful children, Shelly relocated to NE Colorado Springs in 2010 and has totally embraced the “Springs” lifestyle. She loves the beauty of Pike’s Peak and is back to skiing the “double diamonds” and is committed to keeping our office running smoothly.
